Though peanut butter is the traditional spread for sandwiches and celery, you must be careful when you buy and consume these products. Peanuts (a legume not a nut) are often contaminated with a highly carcinogenic substance, aflotoxin. (China Study by Cambell, page 34-35) Carcinogens are substances that cause cancer cells to form in your body.
Here is a wonderful way to alternate store bought peanut butter:
1 cup any raw nut (cashews, almonds, or walnuts)
1/4 tsp. of sea salt
2 Tbs. of either safflower oil or grape seed oil
Using a food processor, process the nuts and salt until it forms a fine powder. Slowly pour the oil you chose into the processor while the nuts are processing. Continue to process for 10 to 15 minutes.
It will stay fresh for 2 weeks.
If you find that you still want peanut butter, buy unsalted coctail peanuts and follow the recipe above.
